Lutwin: "Temptation". This and the following image are illustrations from a German version of the Vita of Adam & Eve.
Lutwin: "The Second Temptation of Adam". This is a temptation scene, but it reflects a different story than the traditional snake in the tree. It takes place after the expulsion from the garden when the devil attempts keep the first couple from fulfilling vows of penance.
