American Research Institute
in Turkey
The ARIT - Ankara Center has moved to a new location in Çankaya, Ankara. It occupies two commodious adjacent apartments in a building that overlooks Seğmenler Park and the well-kept residences of the Foreign and Prime Ministers of Turkey. It is close to shopping and dining establishments, and still only a fifteen-minute walk from the British Institute of Archaeology at Ankara (BIAA). The center provides office, library, study, and conference areas. Hostel, kitchen and living areas are available for guests in a second apartment in the same building. E-mail accounts and web access are available through the center computers in the library and hostel.
The ARIT-Ankara center's Toni M. Cross Library holds approximately 13,000 monographs and journals focused on archaeological studies, but also includes resources for scholars working on modern Turkish studies. The holdings in archaeology have recently grown to include the library of Machteld J. Mellink. A catalogue of the holdings of the Ankara center library is now accessible on the world-wide web at the American Overseas Digital Library server at http://www.aiys.org/aodl/index.php.
