ARIT ANKARA CENTER

The ARIT - Ankara Center is located in Çankaya, Ankara.  The facility occupies two commodious adjacent apartments in a building that overlooks Seğmenler Park and the well-kept residences of the Foreign and Prime Ministers of Turkey. It is close to shopping and dining establishments, and only a fifteen-minute walk from the British Institute of Archaeology at Ankara (BIAA).  The center provides office, library, study, and conference areas.  Hostel, kitchen and living areas are available for guests in the second apartment in the same building.  E-mail and web access are available in the library and hostel.

The ARIT-Ankara center's Toni M. Cross Library holds approximately 13,000 monographs and journals focused on archaeological studies, but also includes resources for scholars working on modern Turkish studies.  The holdings in Anatolian archaeology have grown to include the library of Machteld J. Mellink. A catalogue of the holdings of the Ankara center library is now accessible on-line at the Digital Library for International Research (DLIR). Also through the DLIR, a small collection of maps belonging to the ARIT Ankara library is accessible via the Mapping Mediterranean Lands program and several rare Turkish journals come via the Middle East Research Journals project. Access to directory information on a range of research resources in Turkey is available through DLIR's Local Archives and Libraries of Overseas Research Centers project.
