ARIT ANKARA CENTER
The ARIT - Ankara Center is located in Çankaya, Ankara in a building that overlooks Seğmenler Park and the well-kept residences of the Foreign and Prime Ministers of Turkey. It is close to shopping and dining establishments, and only a fifteen-minute walk from the British Institute of Archaeology at Ankara (BIAA). The center provides office, library, study, and conference areas. E-mail and web access are available in the library.
The ARIT-Ankara center's Toni M. Cross Library holds approximately 13,000 monographs and journals focused on archaeological studies, but also includes resources for scholars working on modern Turkish studies. Access to JSTOR, the digital library of academic journals, books, and primary sources, is available to library patrons. The holdings in Anatolian archaeology have grown to include the library of Machteld J. Mellink. A catalogue of the holdings of the Ankara center library is accessible on-line at the ARIT Ankara Library webpage.
Through the DLIR, a small collection of maps belonging to the ARIT Ankara library is accessible via the Mapping Mediterranean Lands program. Several rare Turkish journals come via the Middle East Research Journals project.
The Toni M. Cross Library in Ankara is supported in part by a fund developed with the help of an Endowment Challenge Grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH)
