GETTY RESEARCH EXCHANGE FELLOWSHIP FOR THE MEDITERRANEAN BASIN AND THE MIDDLE EAST, 2010

THE FELLOWSHIPS:  The American Research Institute in Turkey (ARIT) and the Council of American Overseas Research Centers (CAORC) are pleased to announce the third cycle of the Getty Research Exchange Fellowship Program.

Funded by the Getty Foundation, the fellowship includes a travel and living expense stipend of up to $4,000 for no less than one month of research.   The fellowship requires scholars to affiliate with one of the following overseas research centers:  American Academy in Rome; American Center of Oriental Research (Amman); American Institute for Maghrib Studies (Morocco, Tunisia, and Algeria); American Institute for Yemeni Studies (Sana’a); American Research Center in Egypt (Cairo);  American School of Classical Studies at Athens; Cyprus American Archaeological Research Institute (Nicosia); and the W.F Albright Institute of Archaeological Research (Jerusalem). Affiliation fees are to be paid out of the stipend by the recipient.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:  The fellowship program is open to scholars who are Turkish citizens and who have already obtained a Ph.D. or have professional experience in the study or preservation of cultural heritage and who wish to undertake a specific research project at an overseas research centers in another country. 

APPLICATION PROCEDURE:  Turkish scholars must apply through ARIT. Final award selection will be conducted by CAORC. Notification of fellowship status will be made available to each applicant via email by April 30, 2010. Submit materials to the American Research Institute in Turkey, Ankara or Istanbul branch.
