I work on continuities, conversations and ruptures between post-Kantian aesthetics, Victorian cultural theory, aestheticism and diasporic Anglophone literatures in the absurdly cathected period 1880 - 1910. Important figures from this period have included Sadakichi Hartmann, Walter Pater, W.E.B. Du Bois, Rzuzo Mikimoto, Sui Sin Far and Oscar Wilde.
