COURSE GOALS:

Igbo Language and Culture Level I is designed to help you learn

about the Igbo people, their culture and language, enough to enable you

handle your needs adequately if you travel to the Igbo speaking part of

Nigeria. You will be able to talk about yourself and your preferences,

needs, and interests simply in the present and future tenses. You will

learn to greet people (a major inroad into the hearts of the Igbos),

introduce yourself, handle basic social situations, handle routine

transactions in the market place, and talk about a variety of topics of

common interest. In addition, you will learn how to read and write simply

in the present and future tenses and how to understand Igbo well enough

to carry out routine tasks and engage in simple conversations. In short

the goal of this course is to help you learn to cope on your own in Igbo

and meet your basic travel needs should you go to Igboland.
