The Museum,
through its research, collections, exhibitions, and educational programming,
advances understanding of the world's cultural heritage. Its scholars
research the archaeology and anthropology of areas throughout the
world and the advancement of research techniques.

The Library
system at Penn boasts numerous libraries useful to the ancient historian.
The Van Pelt library houses seminar collections and the Museum has
its own library. Furthermore there are excellent web
resources available to Penn students including numerous
article databases and e-journals.

Travel Opportunities
There are many opportunities
to travel as a member of the Gradute Group in Ancient History. Programs
for study abroad are available through the American
School of Classical Studies in Athens, the American
Academy in Rome, and other similar institutions. In addition
the opportunity for excavation and other projects is available through
the ANCH faculty, the Museum, or other institutions.
