A seated youth with an open book roll looks at a nude companion who holds out a lyre. Meaningless leters, stoichedon, but partly misshapen; [Immerwahr reads], roughly, with Beazley (1948): ARL/LL/EP. Second and fourth letters unclear, so that it is not certain that the latter is an Ionic lambda; hence the fifth letter (which is clear) may be gamma or lambda. (From Immerwahr (1964), p.23).

Also, Beazley (1948) notes that this is one our last examples of an inscribed roll in Greek pottery.
