Faculty BiosSherrill M. DavisManaging Director, The Joseph H. Lauder Institute for Management & International Studies, The Wharton SchoolSherrill M. Davis joined the Lauder Institute as Managing Director in 1996. She oversees the program as a whole and serves as the primary advisor to students for academic matters. She is also directly involved with admissions and program planning. As of October 1, 2002, she will also become Managing Director of the new Wharton/Lauder Center for International Business Education and Research, to be established with partial funding from the U.S. Department of Education. Prior to coming to Lauder, Dr. Davis served as a Korea specialist with the United States Information Agency, assigned as Branch Public Affairs Officer to several posts in Korea. Before that, she worked at the Asia Society in New York City, the Korea Institute at Harvard University, the Academy of Korean Studies in Korea, and the American-Korean Foundation also in Korea. She has a PhD and MA from Harvard University in East Asian Languages and Civilizations, with a specialization in Korean History, and a BA in History from Swarthmore College. She has spent a total of nine years living in Korea, over three decades, including 18 months as a Fulbright Researcher from 1980-1982 and 3 years as a Peace Corps Volunteer from 1973-1976.
