The Joseph H. Lauder Institute of Management and International StudiesThe Lauder Institute is a distinctive and innovative educational program at the University of Pennsylvania. A joint venture of the Wharton School and the School of Arts and Sciences, the institute offers a 24-month MBA/MA program that includes fully internationalized management courses, courses in the arts and social sciences that focus on better understanding foreign cultures, language training abroad, and a summer internship with a multinational corporation in a foreign country. A traditional Wharton concentration in finance, marketing, strategy, or operations management, is taken concurrently with a regional specialtization focusing on one of four areas: East Asia, Western Europe, Latin America, or the United States (for foreign students). Students are expected to have prior knowledge of at least one of the following languages: Japanese, Mandarin Chinese, Spanish, Russian, Portuguese, German, French, Arabic or (for non-native speakers) English. Some full-time work experience is considered an asset. The Institute will accept fifty graduate students into the program each year; they should share a knowledge of foreign languages and cultures and, by virtue of their experiences abroad, be committed to the development of multinational enterprises. Applications must be submitted to both the Lauder Institute and the Wharton Graduate Division (MBA Program). For further information, contact the Lauder Institute at Lauder-Fischer Hall, at 215-898-1215.
