Teaching with Technology: Basics

The Web is the primary means by which we deliver online materials to students. It's easy to create websites for courses with Blackboard courseware. The Library is now making online reserve readings available in Blackboard courseware. Use our online forms to request a Blackboard site or to request assistance with Blackboard.

Courses in Touch provides an easy way to see a course registration list with pictures.

It's easy to start a class mailing list (a course listserv) or newsgroup for electronic class discussions. To create another e-mail discussion list (for a valid academic purpose), send mail to our .

It's also easy to create an online Mid-Semester Evaluation for a course. The feedback allows students to provide anonymous feedback. Only the instructor who requested the evaluation can see the feedback.

The services listed above require a valid PennKey ID and password.

Both the Language Resource Center and Multimedia Services make audio and video digitizing services available to instructors.

If you are interested in using technology for a course and want a broad overview of what's available and useful, take a look at Educause's "7 Things You Should Know About..." series and ISC's Facilitating Faculty-Student Collaboration on the Internet.
