Ed has been a Lecturer for German and Coordinator for Technology in Foreign Languages at Penn since 2002. In March 2009 he became the Director for Technology in the Penn Language Center. He is active in a variety of areas including classroom instruction, faculty training as well as research and development with technology. He works regularly with faculty, students, and staff on innovative educational and technology projects ranging from online course management and blended learning to the use of social networks and virtual worlds for language practice. He is president elect of the Northeast Association of Language Learning Technology and collaborates on papers, panels and presentations at regional, national and international conferences. In 2008, Ed co-presented at the 15th World Congress of Applied Linguistics, Essen, Germany on “The Articulation of a German Foreign Language program: Applying data from a CMC-based learner corpus”. Besides his interest in things German, he enjoys classical guitar and piano.
