David James

David James completed his Ph.D. in Germanic Studies from the University of Texas at Austin in 2003. He also studied at the Pädagogische Hochschule in Weingarten and the Freie Universität Berlin. His dissertation, entitled “The Second Generation: Language Use among Migrants in Berlin,” explored issues of language and identity among second-generation migrants. At Penn, he is the Coordinator of Business German and teaches German 219 (German Business World: A Macro Perspective) and German 220 (German Business World: A Micro Perspective) in the Fall and Spring semesters, respectively. His research interests include Business German pedagogy and curriculum design and teaching culture.
