The
German Minor Program
The German minor gives students a valuable preparation for graduate study
in history, political science, international relations, linguistics and
classical studies. Students who concentrate on linguistic preparation
are presently in great demand by companies that need specialists for their
international operations.
Minimum
requirement 6 c.u.
The German
minor consists of 6 c.u. beyond German 104. Minors must take German 215
or the equivalent (the equivalent must be approved by the undergraduate
chair). The remaining 5 c.u. are to be earned in courses numbered 216
or higher and may include only one course in German literature in translation
offered within the department (e.g. German 242, 244, 255, 256).
The
Dutch (Netherlandic) Minor Program
To obtain a minor in Netherlandic, students are expected to enroll in
a total of 4 c.u. Elementary and Intermediate Dutch/Netherlandic (DTCH101-104).
In addition, they will elect 2 c.u. in Dutch literature, culture, or history.
They may also
count an intensive summer study in Zeist or Ghent toward their minor.
