I'd like to distribute them, along with Aquinas's relevant articles in S.T. (and perhaps a few pages of Grotius) to a seminar discussion I will be leading next month on just war in an age of high technology. I can distributed ASCII texts to this group quite easily via the internet, so having it in that format would be most helpful (though hard copy would, of course, be quite helpful). I would be interested in the Latin text, but the people I'm working with do need translations. Shamless plugs are acceptable as long as they have the word "Augustine" in them (and do not thereby mean the city in Florida or the site of the Very Large Array radio telescopes in New Mexico). A welcome opportunity to stir up this list with a hello, a regret that nobody chimed in with an answer to the texts-on-the-just-war problem (Fred Russell's book is the best place to go and look for the references, but I think somebody's going to have to get busy and *create* the resource we want), and a promise to crank up some more concrete discussion later in the term. jo'd ******************************************* The readership of this list might be interested to know that the following book is now available (a shameless plug): *Augustine: Against the Academicians and The Teacher*. Translated, with Introduction and Notes, by Peter King. Hackett Publishing Company Inc., Indianapolis/Cambridge 1995. ISBN 0-87220-212-7 (pbk). The press run was completed yesterday (14 September). I don't have the slightest idea of the price, I'm afraid. The translations are based on the CCSL critical editions. Great books, great philosophy, great course readings. End of plug.
