From kraft Mon Jan 23 20:54:59 1995 Subject: Question about "Copper Scroll" > Vanderkam mentions that the copper scroll lists "treasure sites." > (p. 10) He doesn't say anymore than that (or at least as far as I have > read). What are these sites. Has any one looked for them? What are the > "treasures?" Could you please expound on this copper scroll. This is a good example of how to use, interactively, the two introductory textbooks. VanderKam leaves you with a question, on p. 10. When you go to his index, you find under "Copper Scroll" a reference to pp. 68-69 (also to p. 192). There you find some sort of answer to your questions. If, as I hope, you would like more information (or another viewpoint), you check the index in Fitzmyer. There you will find reference to "Copper Plaque" (!), and suspecting that this might be relevant you check pp. 35-36 (and p. 23). Voila! Now you know, perhaps, more than VanderKam tells, and as much as I can give you (apart from anecdotes about Allegro!) at this point. Learning to find is probably the most important aspect of education. RAK ----- From kraft Wed Jan 25 23:27:49 1995 Subject: DSS: Copper Scroll/Plaque Treasures I thought this item from my class DSS discussion list might be of more general interest to IOUDAIOS-L members. It makes me ask WHAT sort of "interesting discoveries." Mystery is answered by mystery!
