1. A brief introduction to the long form of ParJer.

MS P (Paris gr 1534, 11 c) of the long version of Paraleipomena 
Jeremiou contains the following brief biographical introduction 
to the text proper, after a somewhat unusual title (fol 159i\r) 
-- note that the margin at the top of this column contains a 
menealogical title "For the month of May, the 1st[?]":

English translation:

<ti>Life and Martyrdom, or Repose and Transition to God, of the 
Holy and Glorious Jeremiah the Prophet</>

The blessed and holy prophet of God, Jeremiah, was from Anathoth 
the town near Jerusalem. He was a righteous and holy man from his 
mother's womb, as the Lord said concerning him: "Before you were 
created I knew you, and before you were born I sanctified you" 
[see Jer 1.5]. When he reached maturity [see Eph 4.13], he 
lamented greatly and besought the philanthropic God concerning 
the desolation of Jerusalem. He was not hearkened to by Lord God 
almighty, because of the plethora of the sins of the people who 
dwelt in it.
