ANCIENT SOURCES ATTRIBUTED TO PAUL THE EPISTLE TO THE LAODICEANS [tr. adapted by RAK from M.R.James ed, ANT] 1 Paul, an apostle not on human (authority) Gal 1.1(vg) nor (appointed) by a human, but by Jesus Christ, to the kindred folk at Laodicea: 2 Grace to you Phlp 1.2/Col 1.2 and peace from God the father and the lord Jesus Christ. 3 I thank Christ in all my prayers that you Phlp 1.3(var)+4 are continuing in him and persevere in (doing) Eph 1.16, Phlm 4 his works, anticipating the promised result at the day of judgment. 4 Nor are you misled by the empty babblings of some who sneak in that they 1Tim 1.6 etc. may turn you away from the truth of the gospel Gal 1.11, 2.5+14 that is preached by me. 5 Now may God see to it that those things that go forth from me to increase Phlp 1.12 the truth of the gospel be effective and accomplish what is good and the work of salvation -- eternal life. 6 Now everyone sees my imprisonment which I Phlp 1.13+18, 2.17 suffer in Christ, in which I am glad and rejoice! 7 To me, this results in everlasting salvation, Phlp 1.19 which is also made possible by your prayers and the ministry of the holy spirit, whether I live Phlp 1.20 or I die. 8 For to me, living takes place in Phlp 1.21 Christ and to die is joyous. 9 May he also work his mercy in you, that you have the same love Phlp 2.2 and be of one mind. 10 Therefore, beloved, as you have heard Phlp 2.12 when I was present, hold fast and serve in the fear of God and it will mean eternal life for you. 11 For it is God who works in you. 12 Do whatever Phlp 2.13 you do with undivided conviction. Phlp 2.14/Col 3.17 13 Finally, beloved, rejoice in Christ and Phlp 3.1 beware of those who are filthy rich! 14 Let all your petitions be made openly before God, Phlp 4.6 and consistently reflect the mind of Christ. Phlp 2.5 15 Whatever things are sound and true and sober Phlp 4.8 and just and worthy of love, do them! 16 Keep firm in your heart what you have heard and Phlp 4.9 received, 17 and peace will be your lot. 18 The saints salute you. Phlp 4.22 19 The grace of the lord Jesus be with your spirit. Phlp 4.23 20 Arrange for this to be read to the Colossians, Col 4.16 and Colossians to you. //end//
