IOSCS Congress Leiden 2004
IOSCS Call For PapersThe International Organization for Septuagint and Cognate Studies (IOSCS) will meet next year in Leiden, 30-31 July 2004, before the IOSOT Congress (1-6 August). Accommodation and booking forms should be obtained from the IOSOT congress secretariat:
Leiden University, Faculty of Theology IOSCS members, or candidate members, interested in presenting a short paper should send me, as soon as possible, a proposal containing their name, the name of their academic institution, and the title of their proposed paper. A summary or abstract of the paper should also be included, or, when this is not yet possible, sent to me later (on or before 1 March 2004). The summary should be no more than 250 words in length and must be double spaced. It should state the problem, the essential background, and the conclusions. In addition to the short-papers called for in the above, the programme will comprise two special sessions. A. Pietersma is organizing the first under the topic: "LXX & Descriptive Translation Studies — Making the Connection: The Case for Locating Septuagint and Targum Research within the Framework of Descriptive Translation Studies." Participants: Gideon Toury (Tel Aviv); Steven Fraade (Yale); Jan Joosten (Strasbourg); Benjamin Wright (Lehigh); Cameron Boyd-Taylor (Toronto); Albert Pietersma (Toronto). The second will be devoted to the Hexapla Project. Participants: Peter Gentry (Louisville); Alison Salvesen (Oxford); Bas Ter Haar Romeny (Leiden); Detlef Fraenkel (Göttingen) I am confident that we will continue our tradition of presenting a strong and interesting programme at each of our meetings. Juli 2004, (unmittelbar vor dem IOSOT Kongreß, 1.-6. August) in Leiden statt. Formulare zur Anmeldung und zur Buchung von Unterkünften sind beim Sekretariat des IOSOT Kongresses erhältlich:
Leiden University, Faculty of Theology Ich bitte die IOSCS Mitglieder oder Kandidaten für die Mittgliedschaft, die ein Paper halten wollen, mir dies zum frühst möglichen Zeitpunkt mitzuteilen. Bitte geben Sie Ihren Namen, die Universität/Organisation, für die Sie arbeiten, und den Titel Ihres Papers an. Eine Zusammenfassung des Papers sollte ebenfalls mitgeschickt werden. Falls dies nicht möglich ist, kann es auch noch zu einem späteren Zeitpunkt geschehen. Der späteste Termin ist der 1. März 2004). Die Zusammenfassung soll nicht mehr als 250 Worte umfassen und mit doppeltem Zeilenabstand gedruckt sein. Sie sollte das Problem, den wesentlichen Hintergrund und die (voraussichtlichen) Ergebnisse beinhalten. Die Tagung wird zwei thematische Sitzungen umfassen. Bei der ersten wird A. Pietersma zum Thema: Descriptive Übersetzungsstudien und die Septuaginta und Targumsden Vorsitz führen ("LXX & Descriptive Translation Studies: Making the Connection: The Case for Locating Septuagint and Targum Research within the Framework of Descriptive Translation Studies"). Ce sommaire ne devrait pas excéder 250 mots, à interligne double, et doit inclure une présentation du sujet, les lignes essentielles du raisonnement et les conclusions. Il y aura deux sessions thématiques.
