    Submission deadline for Goldfein and Brenner Research Awards Friday, October 31, 2014

    Each fall and spring the Jewish Studies Program offers Goldfein Research Awards and the Brenner Special Opportunity Awards to both undergraduate and graduate Penn students.The Goldfein Research Awards, are intended to cover research projects and study programs. The Brenner Special Opportunity Awards, finance special needs not otherwise covered by grants, such as travel to conferences or special courses of study.

  • Introducing the Persian, Turkish and Hebrew Professors and Students Forum

    On October 1, 2014, the Persian, Turkish and Hebrew Professors and Students Forum held its first meeting. Please contact Prof. Ronit Engel, Coordinator of the Hebrew Langauge Program, if you are interested in finding out more or joining the group.

  • 9/12, Application Deadline Jewish Studies Bassini Internships

    With the goal of enriching intellectual life at Penn, the Jewish Studies Internship Program encourages and supports students who wish to explore the intellectual complexity and richness of Jewish Studies and related fields outside the confines of the regular classroom. Interns work in pairs under the guidance of faculty members and a graduate student advisor. 

    There are no requirements to join this program. You do NOT have to be a Jewish Studies Major or Minor.

  • 4/7, Submission deadline for Samuel and Esther Goldin Endowment Award

    Each spring, the Jewish Studies Program awards the Samuel and Esther Goldin Endowment Award. This annual prize recognizes an outstanding thesis or research paper in the field of Jewish Studies. Preference will be given to students majoring or minoring in Jewish Studies at the University of Pennsylvania, but any senior research essay by a Penn undergraduate (senior) that reflects research in and deep engagement with Jewish texts, religion, history, literature, politics, or culture will also be eligible for the prize.
