Interaction of Fellows and Public

The Center program will brings together scholars, students, and policy-makers from different disciplines interested in language and language-related issues, Course work is currently offered in all the departments represented by committee members, and students may now do degree work in the Graduate School of Education, the Linguistics Department, and various language departments; the Anthropology department is also a four- field department, and the commitment to linguistic anthropogy is strong. Other scholars, such as in History, also have interdisciplinary linguistic- based interests. Fellows who come here to research these issues, and attend our concurrent seminar series, will benefit from and contribute to the intellectual climate at Penn that strongly supports these issues. Fellows will also participate in the workshops, training sessions, and educational outreach we plan to help stimulate debate on language policy, and participate in language policy formation at the grass-roots level.
