In modern Spoken Tamil a newer causative
stem formation process is becoming more common. Under this process a new stem
is derived from the past stem of another verb, e.g.
- ¼¹¢â nadattu `cause to run, go; manage' (from ¼¹
nada)
- ½à¢â paduttu `cause to feel' from ½à padu `feel, experience')
Note that although the past stem of ½à padu `feel' is
½¥¥ patt rather than ½à¢¢ padutt-, the
causative is formed on the past stem of ½à padu `lie', a
Class VI verb, but used as the causative of ½à padu `feel'
also.
