appears, its meaning, if attached to a numeral, is ORDINAL, i.e.
equivalent to English `-th': ¼ÔÁÔÂâ naalaavadu `fourth'. If
attached to a single noun (phrase) the meaning is `at least':
naanaavadu pookalaam `at least I may go'. ÈÂâ aavadu may be
attached to Í¢»×Æ ettane `how many':
Éâ Í¢»ÆÔÂâ »¹× idu ettanaavadu tadave? `This is the how-
manieth time?'
ÈÂâ aavadu and an alternative form È£ aam are used for
dates: Éâ Çþ¶Ô£ (Çþ¶ÔÂâ) Ø»»Õ idu anjaam (anjaavadu) teeti
`This is the fifth (day) of the month'.
