If you installed TamilNet font in your computer, you can use the following form to practice writing Tamil in Roman alphabet. Write your Romanized transliteration within two pipe symbols as in |itu tami7| and |ingkee `tamizhil' ezutalaam.|. You can check your input clicking the transliteration button. Use the following chart to choose the Roman equivalents of Tamil characters. This facility allows you to provide your responses to exercises in this web page in Tamil. Tamil does not have a `standard' transliteration scheme for romanization, so you can choose from a number of alternations, like long forms being represented as a sequence of two same vowels (eg. ee) or by capital letter (E). When you open netscape, select tamilnet under propotional font and tamilfix under fixed width font. Press `apply' and `ok'. <font color="FF0000"> More importantly, </font> you need to select the option `user-defined' through `options' and 'document encoding'. This must be done every time you load netscape.
