Travel information to Philadelphia
Air Transportation
There is no official airline for the conference. Philadelphia is served
by most major airlines, including transatlantic flights (e.g. from
France) although better connections are probably available through New
York or Washington, D.C. USAir is the airline with the most traffic to
Philadelphia.
To Penn from the Airport
Train:
The R1 Airport Line leaves every half hour and will take you to
the University City station located behind the Penn Tower Hotel at South
St. and Convention Ave. This train also goes to 30th St. Station (near
the Penn campus) and to Suburban Station at 16th and JFK Blvd. in downtown
Philadelphia. Fare is $5.00.
Taxi from the airport
A metered cab costs about $20 and the ride takes about 20 minutes.
Shuttles from the airport
For shuttle service to hotels on campus or downtown, go to the
Transportation desk at the airport. The fare is $8-$9.
Car Rental
All major car rental firms are located at the
airport. There are also several agencies at the train station (30th
Street).
Intercity Trains, Amtrak
Trains serving the Northeast Corridor regularly stop in Philadelphia.
The 30th Street train station is just a few blocks (2 subway stops in the
Subway-Surface ("Green") line, westbound) from The University of
Pennsylvania.
