FRENCH 130-140 INSTRUCTOR'S PAGE

teacher's resources

  • 110-120 Instructor's page

These internet pages are intended as a supplement to teaching French 130 and 140 at the University of Pennsylvania. By integrating computer work into your class you will help students learn technical skills as well as open exciting new vistas of French/Francophone culture. Exploring French resources on the Internet means that every student can pursue their own personal interests IN FRENCH and that you can enrich their homework assignments and learning. This page is an additional guide to materials that you could bring into the classroom, these are not the same links as on the pages for your students.

    General references

  • How to write your own Web page!!

How about as a 140 web exercise -- students create their own page d'accueil in French? maybe the class could do one for the semester? This could be a semester-long project -- as they look for sites in French that interest them , and write about themselves.

  • Club des poetes A great source for poetry, images, easy texts, interesting works.
  • This is a great site of words illustrated by picturesI'm not sure what to do with it yet, but remember that you can print out any of the pictures and use them. Could work very well when introducing emotions, or words that you can't necessarily draw on the board.

    French Publications

  • List of French newspapers and magazines - a lot of these are not very interesting but if you have time you can explore. I have selected the following as more worthwhile publications to look at, particularly for articles:
  • Nice Matin
  • Le soir illustre from Belgium
  • Dernieres nouvelles d'Alsace
