Marina Della Putta Johnston
Lecturer, Italian
Marina Della Putta Johnston is Lecturer in Italian at the University of Pennsylvania. She graduated in English Language and Literature at the Università degli Studi di Venezia – Ca’ Foscari defending a thesis on “Italian Migrants in Australia and Related Questions.” She subsequently earned her PhD in Italian at Penn with a dissertation on “Leonardo da Vinci's Codex Madrid I: The Creation of the Self as Author.” She still enjoys researching and teaching about migrations, but the focus of her research is primarily on Medieval and Renaissance literature and art with an eye to the history of science. Marina regularly presents her research at conferences such as the AAIS, MLA, RSA and SCRC. Her latest article, “The Literary Cornice of Architecture in Filarete’s Trattato” is scheduled for publication in Arte Lombarda, in an upcoming special issue on Filarete.
