-- Marian Augusta Northrop Kraft, 94, of Havenwood-Heritage Heights
Continuing
Care Retirement Community in Concord, NH,
died Sunday, August 20, peacefully at Havenwood. She was the wife of
Howard
Russell Kraft, who died in 2000 in Waterbury,
CT.
The couple had lived in nearby Wolcott,
CT
for most of their lives.
Marian Northrop was born March
19, 1912, in Waterbury
Hospital, daughter of the
late
Clifford Northrop and Margaret Miller of the Mill Plain section of Waterbury.
She was a graduate of Crosby
High School, class of 1929,
and was active in the area
in swimming instruction and youth work at the Waterville
(now Waterbury) Bible
Church. To scores of
appreciative
"Pioneer Girls" at the Church and associated summer camps she was
known as "Cap" Kraft. After her husband's death, she moved to a
retirement apartment in Waterville,
and finally to Havenwood in Concord, NH, late
in 2001.
Marian is survived by her three sons, Charles H.
Kraft of
South Pasadena, CA, Robert A. Kraft of Ambler, PA, and David P. Kraft
of
Amherst, MA; a daughter, Sharon A. Kraft-Lund of Center Barnstead, NH;

grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Betty Simons Lirot
of
Daytona Beach FL, and Jean Fleming, formerly of Wolcott and S. Pomfret,
VT, and
now also living in Heritage Heights,
Concord.
Arrangements: in Concord NH, on Saturday September 2, at 6 pm,
Memorial Service at Havenwood; in Wolcott/Waterville CT, on Saturday,
September 9, burial in the
family
plot in Edgewood Cemetery, Wolcott center, at 11 am (attended by her
immediate
family); followed at 1:30pm by a Memorial Service at the Bible Church
of
Waterbury (formerly Waterville Bible Church), at 240 Dwight St., Waterbury,
CT.
Remembrances: In lieu
of flowers, contributions will be accepted for the Marian "Cap" Kraft
Summer Camp Scholarship Fund, at the Bible Church of Waterbury (240
Dwight St, Waterbury, CT
06704), or at the
Congregational Church of North Barnstead (504
North Barnstead Rd, Center Barnstead, NH
03225).
