Undergraduate Advisory Board Meeting-February 9, 2000

The Undergraduate Advisory Board of the Department of Religious Studies met Wednesday evening, February 9. It was decided that we would sponsor at least three events this spring:

1. FILM NIGHT. We are asking Tirdad Derakhshani to choose a film and present issues it may raise about religion. The film is to be shown in Logan 402 followed by food and conversation in the second floor lounge.

2. BEHIND THE SCENES AT THE UNIVERSITY MUSEUM. We would like to sponsor a tour of the Mesopotamian Tablet Room or some other collection that is not normally available to the public. Ann Matter is making initial contact with scholars at the University Museum.

3. UNDERGRADUATE JOURNAL OF RELIGIOUS STUDIES. Daniel Septimus and Adam Graves will be launching a forum for publishing (perhaps both electronically and in paper) a journal of essays, reviews, creative writing, and critiques on topics in the study of religion, to be edited and published by Penn undergraduates. Stay tuned for the announcements. If you would like to help, contact Daniel (septimus@sas) or Adam (agraves@sas).

There was also discussion of the possibility of another book sale. Pizza was eaten.

respectfully submitted, Ann Matter, scribe
