Past Events 2004 - 2005

Congratulations to the winner of the 2005 Luba Zinkowsky Friedman Award for Excellence in Russian Studies, which is awarded annually to the most promising student of Russian studies. This years award goes to Spencer Willig.

We also congratulate the winners of the Slavic Departmental Essay Prize, awarded to the best paper presented at the annual Slavic undergraduate conference, the Slavic Bazaar. The prize this year was split between Rayna Lopyan and Markian Dobczansky.

Markian Dobczansky's research paper won the President's Award and will be published in RES (a journal od undergraduate research).

Slavic Summer Travel Grant was won by Alex Chan.

Roxanne Samak, our 3-rd year student, took 4th place in the category of non-heritage advanced learners at the National Post-Secondary Russian Essay Contest. Students from 500 institutions nation-wide took part in the competition, the 4th place in this contest is a very good result.
