Peter Steiner was born in Prague, Czechoslovakia.

Education

Peter Steiner received his doctoral degree from Yale in 1976.

Teaching History

Before coming to Penn, Peter Steiner taught at the University of Michigan and at Harvard University.

Publications

Peter Steiner is the author of "Russian Formalism," which has been translated into Japanese, Italian, and Bulgarian. He also edited four volumes on various aspects of Slavic literary theory.

Research Interests

Peter Steiner's major areas of research are literary theory and modern Slavic literature and culture.
