Literature of the Philippines Famous Books and Authors  

Dr. Jose P. Rizal  Noli Me Tangere (Touch Me Not)  El Filibusterismo (The Subversion)  Noli Me Tangere, published in 1887 in Berlin, ignited nationalism in Filipinos and lead them to their victory in the Revolution of 1898.  El Filibusterismo was published in 1891 and once again that the revolution is the only means of social reform in the Philippines under the Spanish regime.

Veltisezar B. Bautista  The Filipino Americans (From 1763 to thePresent): Their History, Culture and Traditions  The book focuses on the PhilippineRevolution (1896), the Philippine  Independence (1898), and the Philippine-American War (1899).  It was published in July 1998.

  Tagalog Books  

Paraluman S. Aspillera  Basic Tagalog for Foreigners and Non-Tagalogs  Charles E. Tuttle Co., 1993  An excellent book for those who are not too familiar with Tagalog.  It provides a very strong grammatical bases for every speaker.
