GUIDELINES FOR CONTRIBUTORS

In general, contributors may follow which spelling convention of ancient names or system of referencing as they wish. Although there is no imposed house style for submissons, in an effort to be consistent within the journal we ask contributors to follow these few guidelines:

(1) Since we cannot yet transmit Greek, please transliterate all Greek without diacritical marks (these do not transmit)

(2) Do not use any special characters, accents, or sequence of commands + letters/numbers (e.g. acute accent on e or option + hyphen for the extended dash) as these will not transmit. The plainer the text the better!

(3) Give the foot note indicator in the text in parentheses. Do not use any superscript or subscript forms in the text or foot notes. Please LIMIT the number of foot notes and where possible integrate notes into the text.

(4) If you wish to emphasise a word or phrase, please place between asterisks (cf. the use in notes 1 and 2 above).

(5) Place quotations within single quotation marks.

(6) Place names of ancient works within asterisks, thus: Homer, *Odyssey*.

(7) Set out references to modern works as follows (note the use of asterisks and pagination in full):

N.G.L. Hammond, *The Macedonian State* (Oxford, 1989), p. 90

P.J. Bicknell, 'Athenians Politically Active in Pnyx II', *GRBS* 30 (1989), pp. 83-88

When cited again, please use short titles of books or articles.

Contributions should be submitted by either e-mail or on disk; the preferred method is by e-mail.
