In Picard, le is the feminine singular article (le porte); by analogy with the masculine nouns, li is frequently found in the feminine nominative singular (li mer, le mer).
NOTE: Lo, le and la regularly become l' before a word beginning with a vowel. Singular li may or may not elide before a vowel: li emperedre, l'emperedre. Plural li does not elide; li emperedor
