Just because you suffered through 4 years of engineering school and thought that your days of exams were over - think again !
In order to be recognized as a professional and be able to sign off on design work, plans, or official technical documents, engineers must be licenced. The first step in doing this is to take the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam, formerly the E.I.T. This is a comprehensive exam covering all of the material that is required in an undergraduate education. After passing this, you must meet the state requirements, usually working in an engineering capacity for 4-5 years. After this, you must take the Professional Engineer's exam. Upon completion, you can then become certified and obtain a licence. To learn more about th process and contacts for each of the states, go to the Engineering Press Homepage
It seems like a lot of work, but it is invaluable !
