Intellectual Property and Fair Use

Intellectual property and fair use laws allow the study of humanities and other academic research to go forward. However, the recent technological advancements in communications and media, and their mass adoption, venture into gray areas of the law.

Recent attempts at legislation to pull IP laws into modern society have spawned controversies and (as expected) court cases which will set lasting precedents. The long-term effects of these cases on the study of humanities remains to be seen.
