What you know about grammar probably so far is based on what you
have been taught in classes devoted to the study of your mother
tongue (probably English), and in classes devoted to the study of a
second language, such as French or Japanese or German.
Most of us are taught our mother tongue from the point of view of
prescriptive grammar with perhaps a dash of descriptive. What is PG:
