- September to December, 1996: gather materials not already on
hand, and obtain permissions to
digitize extant materials: begin digitization of all audio materials.
Begin inputting (keyboarding) text materials and converting to standard format
(Singapore system) for viewing as Tamil on screen.
Begin the
construction of the actual Tamil website, which will be housed either at
ccat.sas.upenn.edu or on the Language Analysis Center server, soon to be
co-located with LDC at a new facility at 36th and Market in Philadelphia.
- January-March 1997: begin keyboarding unpublished
materials (Cutler, Schiffman, other text-based or hand-written
materials); compile glossaries, cultural notes.
- April-June, 1997: Test availability and
suitability of materials with small number of webusers at Consortium
sites; fix bugs; update and add new materials.
- July-August, 1997: Take stock, confer with
Consortium members on next steps. Publicize existence of website to
potential users at non-Consortium sites.
