Briefly describe who and what this photograph depicts, who created it, and why. Earlier you were asked whether you think this photograph was meant to be condemning or celebratory. Do you still agree with your earlier assessment? If so, what did you learn from reading this photograph that confirmed what you had already concluded. If not, what changed your mind?

You have considered this photograph in some detail. Now think about how you might use it to answer the larger questions we posed at the beginning of this section. What might this photograph tell you about Americans’ images, expectations, and experience of medicine during medicine’s “Golden Age”?
