PPenn Ptolemaic Greek


[Several Greek items are included in the Dra Abu el Naga (DAN) tomb discoveries, which are dated to the Ptolemaic period by the preserved formulae in the archive. They are treated as a group below. It is assumed as an operating principle that cartonnage fragments are probably Ptolemaic in origin. Closer study of the individual pieces will be necessary to challenge that assumption. We can expect the cartonnage materials to produce Demotic and Hieratic fragments as well, and perhaps sometimes Hieroglyphic (RAK)]
