Victoria de Grazia is a Professor of History at Columbia University and Visiting Professor at the European University Institute Florence. After writing several books on Fascist Italy, including most recently, with Sergio Luzzatto, Il Dizionario del Fascismo (Einaudi, 2002-2003), she recently published Irresistible Empire: America's Advance through Twentieth Century Europe, a history of the United State's strategic use of its consumer culture in establishing its global hegemony (Harvard, 2005). She is currently is on the editorial board of various historical journals, past president of the Council for European Studies, and a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.
