Maestro Antonio Fava is a founder of the company Teatro del Vicolo and the International School of the Comic Actor in Reggio Emilia, Italy. He has taught or collaborated with a wide range of theatre luminaries, such as Jaques Lecoq and Dario Fo, among others. Maestro Fava also designs and constructs leather masks for use at his school and in his performances, and his masks are in various private collections, museums and cultural institutions in numerous countries. He teaches Commedia dell'Arte in schools, universities and drama academies throughout the world. In addition, Fava is also author of the book The Comic Mask in the Commedia dell'Arte: Actor Training, Improvisation and the Poetics of Survival, which has recently been published in English, and is considered by many a definitive work on Commedia performance.
