Chesrown Photo Album Contents
This album was purchased on eBay 18fe2006 by Pierpont relative Tom Chesrown and then passed along to the Pierpont Family Association for detailed identification and appropriate disposition. For the larger context, go to 20>16219 Frederick Wolcott Pierrepont in the online Pierpont genealogy file.
Note: only one picture has the identification printed on it, and another has the name written on it in pencil, otherwise the identifications are in pencil on the album pages that hold the separate pictures. Thus some pictures could have been placed in the wrong page by handlers of the album enroute to eBay and thence to the PFA archives. The commercial photographers with names on the backs of pictures are mainly from New Britain CT, where James Becker Pierpont and family lived in 1860 (census), and from New Haven CT where the main family lived, with a few from Hartford CT. Several tintypes are also included, and one picture is dated by the photographer’s identification to 1863. My suspicion is that the album was in the possession of the James Becker Pierpont family (see the remains of the erased name on the inner flyleaf as well as other clues), with special attention to his wife and the Payne family, but several recorded names have not yet been identified and/or connected). The latest date mentioned in the album is 1930 (Jennie Payne's death).
