The New York Times
Hack date: September 1998
Hackers calling themselves "Internet terrorists" infiltrated The New York Times Web site, posting pornographic pictures, leaving vague threats and ridiculing several members of the newspaper's staff. After the main page was restored several hours later, some areas, such as the archives and the crossword puzzle, remained unavailable.
