Echolocate fish and contour, hull and friend.
Close your ears and lose your way. Compass in the drawer,

we still have curiosity across distance, and I ask myself,

who’s got time to be a memory anyway? John could be
a stranger, except he is my brother, waiting with me for
the F train to link us to downtown and Brooklyn.

He tells me a few what’s-wrong-with-this-picture stories
filled with clues I can find as easily as he, and we laugh,
one over the other, slinky-style, giver and receiver

in one. Open your ears and see some common ground.
