Smooth and nylon, it gathers itself from the street, sweeping variety off

the front lawn. A seed

satisfying the trigger, the launch

of power machinery and chemicals. Powering the engineered boundaries. Spaces cultured

between blades,

prefabricated to separate opinions and lawn chairs.

Bahia, Laboratory, Bermuda St. Augustine, Catholicism

And I might reach for the carpet, fingers sprouting fingers, and shake hands.

Weedanol, Fencepost, Tufor Ridz-2-4-D, Capital

And within the grass I can hear pistons, boiling, and fear. Or maybe irrigation.
