--- L E O N A R D   G O N T A R E K

The function of dreams is to present a riddle.

In novels, we are meant to identify the character we are based on.

I am in mountains. Drugstore: Paradise toothpaste, postcards, repellent.

The clerk says, handing my change,

If you write to yourself, you will lament yourself.

Less a condemnation, than as

an observation one might make about a hat.

Maple, outside, shaking down leaves. Man raking.
