(from The Amnesiac Collection)

Vernacular. Pieces of the moment; pearls caught in Your mouth. A hesitation. Words snagged in the limbs Of trees like thin plastic bags; crows that won't stop cawing. A motion towards the sky. Lines underneath The surface. And you and I. Capitalization. Breath fogging The window. A hesitation; a moment in which. Avuncular. Like in the dream when she was scared and she was running. I grabbed your hand; like far-off thunder The building fell. Colonies on the moon. A sliver. She never Stayed for that long. Ice cream and leather. You're making this up.
