Some physicians joined together in group practices. Their office suites
were often located in medical arts buildings near the hospitals where
these physicians had consulting and referral privileges. Especially large
urban and suburban group practices, such as the ones housed in the quarters
shown here, invested in fashionable furnishings and modern quarters and
required a substantial number of support staff.
