John Romulus Brinkley

John Romulus Brinkley, who broadcast a popular radio show that reached much of the Midwest, offered “examinations” for the men and women who listened to his program. He was known for treating prostate and other genito-urinary diseases by transplanting glands from goats into his patients. In the late 1930s, he sued the editor of the Journal of the American Medical Association for libel, and lost.
